With this casting technique, the bottom form is filled with UHPC to a depth of 4.5 inches (for 8-inch deep waffle panels), and then the top form is pushed in with UHPC, causing it to displace and form the ribs. The bottom form should be a basic open top form and adequately secured to the casting bed to prevent lifting of the bottom form due to pressure generated during displacement. Once the UHPC reaches initial set (usually 12 to 14 hours after pouring), the voids should be removed. This will allow shrinkage to occur without any restriction, preventing cracks in the deck panels
